Chọn địa điểm gắn liền với di tích lịch sử Văn Miếu Quốc Tử Giám, Gia Restaurant được khai sinh với mong muốn truyền tải những giá trị văn hoá cốt lõi của Việt Nam.
Ngay từ khi đặt chân vào quán, bạn sẽ bị thu hút bởi những yếu tố kiến trúc mang đậm phong cách Đông Dương với chất liệu gỗ và tông màu xanh - nâu tối. Phòng ăn chính là một không gian hiện đại với các bức tường ốp kính bạc, trên vẽ hình người An Nam trong sinh hoạt hàng ngày, tạo nên cảm giác mộc mạc nhưng vẫn vô cùng sang trọng
Menu tại Gia chỉ có khoảng 13 món nhưng sẽ được thay đổi liên tục theo mùa, cứ ba tháng lại đổi thực đơn một lần. Gia sử dụng chủ yếu các nguyên liệu rất Việt Nam như rau dớn ở vùng Tây Bắc hay lá giang trong văn hoá ẩm thực người Thái, những món ăn truyền thống như bún riêu, súp lươn, mỳ gà tần,... vốn đã quen thuộc, nay được tái hiện theo góc nhìn hoàn toàn mới mẻ và thú vị.
Thông qua mỗi món ăn, Gia kể câu chuyện về văn hoá truyền thống của người Việt, về một nền ẩm thực gắn kết giữa quá khứ, hiện tại và tương lai.

It was rather dark when we first walked into the shop house. And we were quickly escorted to the 2nd floor where the main dining room cum kitchen is located. We were shrouded by darkness still.
The food was served rather quickly and within 40 mins, we were almost completed. I must say that the dishes were relatively simple but were subtle and powerful. It invokes memories of traditional Vietnamese dishes yet there’s a twist. Some tastes were simple, but not simplistic, and executed well. The mushroom rice, in particular, was excellent, and I can see why it is the restaurant’s signature. Beef and quail were nicely done.
I thought the last courses of desserts were a bit redundant. We were brought to the kitchen to taste the coconut cookie and then, back to the first floor to pick 3 fruits from which sorbets would be made. Our unfinished pairings were supposed to follow suit but never did. But all was forgotten and forgiven when the lotus dessert was served. Gosh, again, the subtlety of taste with the different ingredients exploding in one’s palate was just exquisite.

This restaurant serves a sampling menu. The service here felt very rushed and the wines paired were not chilled enough. When we asked to slow down the courses it was still fast. Having said that, food was alright and the wine pairing worked. Some hit and some misses, but the plating was pretty. I believed the service staff tried their best. Restaurant ambience is beautiful. Hopefully they fine tune and smooth out the rough edges soon.
